The strength of the film lies in its not trying to be something it's not. The scene is of a seedy bar where one man awaits another. The course of the conversation reveals that he's the father of his guest, and thus progresses the story.
The young man has come to invite his father to his wedding, but will he manage to convince an estranged husband and father to come back to his family? The writing of the film exhibits maturity and handles its narrative well without giving in to any maudlin elements. The camera angles are simple, the lighting dim. All of it put together manages to achieve a balanced product.
