The film locates itself within the crime fiction genre, and allows the entirety of it to unfold at the same table. Two characters sit across from each other, playing a game of cards, the game perhaps becoming a metaphor for another tussle that is shared between them, one that would come to define the rest of the narrative.
The visuals are marked by a red light and tinge, but could have perhaps gained from a little more control on the lights and shadows. Overall, the film remains a sincere product with a dedication to performance brought forth by the characters. The narrative unfolds, deliberately misleading the viewer, and thereby blindsiding them with the eventual conclusion.
